Day 1
First day at work yesterday.
I woke up and looked though the window and there was Mt Fuji! It was behind a building crane, but was very clear. It didn't come out very well on the camara though.
Met Dean for breakfast but couldn't stomach anything more than fruit and yoghurt. He sounds a bit New Yorkian to me but he is from Colorado. He seems a nice chap and loves South East Asia.
Our office is the 2nd floor of a very non-descript building. It is being used as a storage room but they have put up temporary walls and brought in desks and chairs. So far just Per & Mikael the 2 current project heads, myself and Dean. More will come once the join the project.
Had a meeting with Per and Mikael. They will be focusing on the rollout once the Total project Manager is on board. We went through the basic project org chart, where they had got to with recruiting and the project in general. The rollout was in 2 regions, but now one region (Tokai) has been put on hold (1,300 sites) probably until further investment. So this means they are currently only looking at 4,700 sites in Kansai (in and around Osaka).
Also went through with Dean what he expects to accomplish and set out in the next few weeks.
Couldn't do all that much today as though we got our Ericsson computers we didn't actually have our access details.
Had lunch with Dean, Per & Mikael and went to a Korean BBQ place (yakiniku). We all had the set menu and I had about as much as the rest of them. Hmmm. Very nice though.
Left work at 4pm as had nothing to do.
Went out for Dinner with Dean as I told him I was conversant enough to get him a meal. We went to an Italian place close by and it turned out they had an English menu, so I wasn't much use to Dean afterall. However, as I had spoken to the Waitress in Japanese when I arrived she only gave the English menu to Dean...... all good practise I guess! I can definately see the difference in English between Tokyo & Yokohama ie English spoken and written all over Tokyo and hardly anywhere in Yokohama. Yokohama is pretty much like Tokushima in that respect.
Knackered so went to bed at 9.20pm, only after dissapointing finding that I do not have the connection lead between the camara and computer. So no photos on this blog then til I'm back. Sorry.
